Calling our artists and creative Members – FCAA needs graphics

FCAA is creating greeting cards to send out to our members to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, job promotions and other happy events in our lives. We’ll also need cards to offer condolences.

If you have a creative flair and want to assist us in this project, send us your artwork! We’ll accept .JPEGs, .BMPs, as well as hand-drawn artwork. All submissions become the property of FCAA so please do not send any originals that you need returned.

Artwork should be sent to the FCAA office in Alexandria by July 1st for consideration. Questions? Contact Amanda at 703-299-6767 or 888-ALUMNI-0.

FCAA is seeking Spanish-speaking alumni for media opportunities

Through our partnership in National Foster Care Month and our work with organizational member, Adopt US Kids, FCAA is seeking Spanish-speaking alumni who are interested in working with the media to raise awareness and ask people in the Latino community to get involved in foster care.  If you are interested in this opportunity please contact us by email or phone.  Alumni who take this opportunity will be provided coaching and training on effective work with the media.

Have your story included in the upcoming book, From Foster Care to Anywhere!

This book, written by FCAA alumni member Rhonda Sciortino, will be published and distributed throughout the U.S. as a compilation of stories of people who, despite having experienced abuse, abandonment, or neglect, have survived and are thriving.

This book will encourage others who are still trying to get on their feet that they can do it. It will let employers know that people who have experienced foster care can be the most determined and ambitious employees. And it will let the world know who we are and why we do some of the things we do to survive, cope, and take care of ourselves and the ones who come after us.

If you’re interested in participating in this project, contact Rhonda Sciortino, a member of Foster Care Alumni of America, at helpfosterkids@cox.net

Share your thoughts, opinions, and experiences about health and mental health

Through our work with the American Academy of Pediatrics Task Force on Foster Care, FCAA is conducting an online survey with our members (alumni and allies) about their experiences and thoughts related to health and mental health care.  Your feedback will continue to guide our organization in developing our public policy agenda as well as our training and support of those who work with young people in foster care.  To participate in our survey, click here.
